Women Can Do
Conference for high school girls
Started in 1999, this conference brings over 350 girls from around Vermont together at Vermont Technical College to spend a day getting up to their elbows in trades and technology. In 2005, 79% of the girls told us that their ideas about what they could do expanded that day; 57% said that attending the conference made them more likely to consider a career in trades or technology; and 64% of the girls who came from tech centers said that the conference made them feel that they will have a better experience in their center from now on.

to promote learning opportunities and equitable outcomes for ALL students.
"Equity" in education does not mean treating all students the same, but
rather treating students in ways that encourage each to develop, learn, and
perform at his or her best. It does not mean that everyone does the same
thing, but it does mean that certain groups are not consistently excluded
from or unable to achieve in certain areas, such as science, math, and
technology.
